ACADEMY

Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2 and 3 students work through collaboration, with the environment as the third teacher. The hands-on activities offered by experienced, specialist teachers help develop capable, confident learners.  Through the process of experimentation, inquiry and project-based learning, the core competencies required by the BC Ministry of Education are met and most often exceeded. Strong art, music and drama programs offer a creative outlet to all students. French lessons are introduced from Kindergarten as an additional enhancement to the program.

Our purposeful classroom design and atelier allow for both student-led and teacher-directed activities, while maintaining flexibility for the children to independently explore areas of interest. 

Our unique environment promotes intellectual, emotional, social and physical development for the “whole” child, while also promoting self-confident, successful lifelong learners.

Grade 4, 5, 6, and 7 students work in collaboration with the experienced and well-trained teachers in small groups to cover the core competencies and Big Ideas required by the BC Ministry of Education. Our enriched French program exceeds the Ministry requirements. Our "Writer's Workshops" resulted in the top award for grade 3 short story composition in Canada and second prize for grade 5 in 2018. 

Through the process of experimentation, inquiry, project-based learning and hands on activities, the students become capable, confident learners. The opportunity to work and collaborate in small groups through personal and social interactions support the development of a strong sense of self. 

Arts in education is integrated in the daily curriculum. Art, music and enriched drama programs offer opportunities for students to express their creativity. Extra curricular drama opportunities include an annual theatrical production with opportunities for students to get involved with acting, technical support (lighting and sound) as well as set design.
